My name is Meghan and I am publishing this blog and podcast for a school project. I chose 9/11 mainly because I wasn't born yet and I wanted to take time and learn about the biggest terrorist attack in our countries history.
September 11, 2001 was a day that will live in infamy. On this day at about 8:46am American Airlines Flight 11 flew into the north twin tower by hijackers killing everybody on board and thousands inside the building, about 9:03am hijackers crash United Airlines Flight 175 into the south twin tower again killing everybody on the flight and thousands in the building. At 9:37am hijackers aboard flight 77 crash the plane into the pentagon killing 59 aboard the flight and 125 military and civilian personnel inside the building. At 10:07, passengers and crew members aboard Flight 93 tried to overtake the actions of the terrorists and retake control of the airplane but the terrorists in response crashed the plane right away into a field in Pennsylvania where all 40 passengers and crew aboard had immediately died.
Please take time to listen to this podcast I made with a few of my family members. They will discuss their memories and perspectives on this event. The link is below.

Here are a few pictures I took when we were at the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York City recently.
The first picture is of a wall that many people were asked to paint a square of what color the sky was that day, and how they remember it. As my mom mentioned in the podcast, the sky was the most beautiful blue sky she had ever seen and it was a perfect fall day.
The second picture is of the twin towers, a picture that was taken at 8:30am, approximately 15 minutes before the first plane crashed into the first tower.
The third picture is taken inside the museum which is also part of the original structure of one of the twin towers.
The next two pictures are of the skyline featuring the twin towers before and after the attacks had happened.
The last picture is of a firetruck that was reporting on the scene of the explosions, you can see how intense the explosions were and how easily it could damage everything in its wake.
"We will never forget the 2,996 people lost on 9/11 and the bravery shown that day in many ways. We should also never forget those who struggle today because of their loss, those with long terms health effects like our first responders and those that witnessed the terrible effects. I hope that other students are exposed to the history of this day so they can appreciate the impact this event had on all of our lives. One way to do this is to visit the 9/11 memorial museum!"
